Springtime weather begs for backyard barbecues and frosty lemonade, and kids can dish out pretend versions of all their favorite foods with Fat Brain Toys’ new Pretendables toy line. There are six new sets of various food set-ups to encourage role-playing scenarios for kids ages 3 and up.

Kids can spread out a picnic blanket and go ham with the Pretendables Picnic Basket Set. It comes with pretend bread, felt toppings, condiments, watermelon slices, cookies, wooden drink boxes, and a basket with handles. Kids can load the felt toppings between the bread slices and secure it all together with the toothpick screws. If kids want to go the healthy route, the Pretendables Fruit and Veggie Basket comes with a basket full of pretend fruit and vegetables that kids can slice in half with the wooden knife on the cutting board. Cleaning up turns into a mix-and-match game as they try to piece them back together.

For pizza lovers, the Pretendables Backyard Pizza Oven Set comes with a pizza oven, pizza slices, felt toppings to stick on top, a pizza cutter, plates, a menu, and more so kids can pretend they are running their own pizza parlor. You need something to wash all that pizza down with! The Pretendables Lemonade Time Set comes with a hook-and-loop lemon that splits in half, a pitcher with sealed pretend lemonade, toy ice cubes, a set of three glasses, lemon slices that fit onto the rim of the glasses, stir sticks, a chalkboard sign, money, and a storage crate that doubles as a display table.

Kids with a sweet tooth will get a kick out of the Bakery Set that includes a mixing bowl and ingredients to make the baked goods, a pretend oven to cook them in, and the finished products of cupcakes and cookies. There is also a Cinnamon Roll Set that comes with four plush cinnamon rolls, a baking tray, a cinnamon roll canister with a lid, a toy piping bag, a spreading knife, an oven mitt, and an oven/storage crate. Kids can pop open the canister and pull out the four plush cinnamon rolls that they can unroll or roll back up whenever they want. The toy piping bag is made of squishy foam for a tactile element.

The Pretendables sets range from $27.99-49.99. Some of them are available on fatbraintoys.com now, while a few sets are on back-order until May. Click here to check them out!
