Pop star JoJo Siwa is no stranger to the stage and she’s putting on her dancing shoes once again for a live-action musical film, The J Team.
Produced by Nickelodeon and ViacomCBS subsidiary Awesomeness, the 90-minute film will tell the story of a young girl, played by Siwa, who gets kicked out of her dance troupe when her beloved dance coach retires and gets replaced by a sparkle-hating instructor. Siwa must rediscover what dance and friendship really mean to her while finding her “sparkle” along the way.
Cast members include Tisha Campbell-Martin (Martin, Empire), Laura Soltis (Hiccups), Julia Marley (Dead to Me), Kerrynton Jones (Little Fires Everywhere), and Kiara T. Romero (The Prom). The J Team is directed by Michael Lembeck (The Santa Clause 2, Tooth Fairy), written by Eydie Faye (Fuller House), and produced by Ron French (Five Star Christmas). Don Dunn (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before) is executive producer.
Fans of the kids’ musician can also look forward to an original soundtrack, featuring six new songs from Siwa.
