As we ring in the new year, the LEGO Group is celebrating a big milestone: a whole decade of LEGO Friends building sets. To mark the 10th anniversary, the LEGO Group is releasing eight new LEGO Friends sets, including the Tree-Planting Vehicle (pictured above), the Pet Clinic, the Turtle Protection Vehicle, the Beach Glamping set, the Street Food Market, the Canal Houseboat, the Friendship Tree House, and the Main Street Building.

The LEGO Friends brand launched in 2012, creating building block worlds in which kids can explore the values of friendship while sparking their creative curiosity and confidence. As it set out to deliver realistic role-playing opportunities and a detailed, character-based world, the LEGO Friends theme introduced a new type of character, the “mini-doll,” designed to the same scale as the classic LEGO minifigure, but more detailed and realistic. LEGO Friends expanded to include an animated TV series, books, video games, a LEGO Friends magazine, and LEGOLAND theme park attractions.

The LEGO Friends story centers on the everyday lives and personalities of five main characters in the fictional hometown of Heartlake City. The friends are made up of Olivia, Mia, Andrea, Stephanie, and Emma, each with their own distinct qualities and interests. The building sets are designed to represent different parts of town where the friends’ adventures take place, including downtown, the suburbs, the beach, nature, the camping grounds, and the mountains.

The new LEGO Friends Friendship Tree House features Heartlake City treasures hidden within it, as well as a digital guide in the LEGO Building Instructions app that kids can use to visualize their nature set as they build. The eight new sets are in stores now.
