LEGO launched its Monkie Kid theme in 2020 with an animated series of the same title. Based on centuries-old Chinese legends of The Monkey King, the series aims to retell these stories in a modern way. The Lunar New Year LEGO collection features a host of Monkie Kid-inspired interactive playsets, including The City of Lanterns playset. With 2,187 pieces, kids ages 9 and up can explore different stores, restaurants, and public transportation sites to build a city of unlimited potential. Other new Monkie Kid-inspired playsets include the Monkie Kid’s Galactic Explorer set, the Nezha’s Fire Ring set, and the Evil Macaque’s Mech.
