It’s rabbit season!
The Lunar New Year is upon us this Jan. 22, and we’ll be entering the Year of the Rabbit. To celebrate the turning of the calendar to a year all about the bunny, Warner Bros. is making sure to center its cast of rabbit characters.
Cartoonito released a special holiday short based on the preschool series Bugs Bunny Builders. The short features favorite Looney Tunes characters such as Daffy Duck, Tweety, Porky Pig, and, of course, Lola and Bugs Bunny, putting together a stage and decorations to prepare for a traditional lion dance. Watch it below!
That’s not all everyone’s favorite bunny cartoon characters will do to ring in the new year. Bugs Bunny Builders is getting more than just a short special. New episodes will release throughout the year. Looney Tunes Cartoons is also returning to HBO Max with new episodes featuring Eric Bauza continuing to voice Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, and Marvin the Martian.
There’s even a whole new series to look forward to! Cartoon Network and HBO Max will launch their reboot comedy series Tiny Toons Looniversity, following the next generation of Looney Tunes characters as they attend Acme Looniversity.
Video games are getting in on the new year’s action as well. MultiVersus — a free-to-play platform fighter game from Warner Bros. Games — already features Bugs and other Looney Tunes characters as fighter options. The game will offer themed in-game items for a limited time to commemorate, including a Red Guardian Reindog character variant, Ringout, and Banner and Profile Icons. The content will be available for purchase through Jan. 31 (1 p.m. EST).
Scopely’s Looney Tunes: World of Mayhem video game will celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with a month-long, limited-time event. Players can unlock two new Epic Rabbit characters (Lunar Bugs and Lunar Lola) by earning rewards through daily activities and participating in an event starting on Jan. 20. The 7-day event features campaigns, quests, and leaderboards.
With plenty of cartoon content and rabbit-filled action, Warner Bros. is making sure to take full advantage of the year’s theme. Ring in the new year with Bugs and Lola, whether it’s fighting with a favorite Looney Tune character or just kicking back and enjoying the show!
