AN EPIC COLLECTION FOR KIDS AND KIDULTS

  • Old-school figures with modern flair
  • Inspired by the 1980s Filmation cartoons
  • Dozens of characters to collect!

The Cartoon Collection is a fresh assortment of 5.5-inch scale Masters of the Universe: Origins action figures. Unlike the earlier waves, which were inspired by Mattel‘s original Masters of the Universe toys of the 1980s, the Cartoon Collection draws inspiration from Filmation’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra: Princess of Power cartoons. Each character features its cartoon look and colorway (which often drastically differed from the original toy line), and in some cases, takes inspiration from a specific episode of the series.

This collection checks many boxes, including an opportunity for cross-generational play between kids, parents, and grandparents. With a live-action Masters of the Universe movie on the way from Amazon-MGM Studios on June 5, 2026, the Cartoon Collection invites families to rediscover the rich lore and deep character bench from the long-running Masters of the Universe franchise.

Beyond the mighty heroes and villains like He-Man and She-Ra, Skeletor, and Hordak, fans can collect characters like Faker, the “Evil Robot of Skeletor” (who looks just like He-Man), Catra, the “Jealous Beauty,” and Buzz-Off, the “Heroic Spy in the Sky.” Many of the action figures have mix-and-match swappable parts that add to the imaginative play. Best of all, these figures look great and the modern articulation allows for creative posing.

These action figures are released in waves of 4-6 characters, and availability can vary widely. If you’re on the hunt to collect them all, you will find yourself shopping a variety of mass and specialty retailers. And some characters, like the recently released Hurricane Hordak and Despara (Spoiler Alert: She-Ra when she was evil!), are only offered in limited quantities via Mattel Creations. Vehicle and playsets are sold separately. At press time, nearly 30 characters are available with more set for release later this year.

Nostalgic fans looking to reconnect with the icons of their childhood or new fans ready for action and adventure.
