Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s (LEGO) life for me!
There’s a new playset on the sea scene. With the LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay set, inspired by the 1989 Black Seas Barracuda pirate ship model, teens ages 16 and up can now explore the island and wreckage of Captain Redbeard’s famous ship, which was lost at sea more than 30 years ago.
Teens can create the ultimate shipwreck with the set — including a captain’s quarters, a food store, and a supply dock — using the 2,545 included pieces. They can even uncover buried treasure on the island by removing parts of the ship to explore new areas and create new stories. Plus, the island can be reassembled to create Captain Redbeard’s legendary ship: the Black Seas Barracuda. The set includes eight mini-figures based on classic pirate characters, along with two skeleton figures and various animals.
Teens can also display the eye-catching Pirates of Barracuda Bay set, which measures more than 23 inches high by 25 inches wide by 12 inches deep.
The LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay set is based on a submission to the LEGO Ideas platform from fan designer Pablo Sánchez Jiménez, who has a passion for all things pirate and was inspired after building LEGO brick models with his dad when he was young. LEGO Ideas offers fans the opportunity to submit their own brick creations for a chance to have their concept brought to life with the help of LEGO master designers — they receive a share of the net sales, too. Fans can submit their own LEGO set ideas at ideas.lego.com.
The LEGO Ideas Pirates of Barracuda Bay set will be available on lego.com and at LEGO Stores on April 1.
