Fight off cavities and catch Pokémon? Yes, please!

This morning, as part of a “Pokémon Presents” livestream, The Pokémon Co. debuted Pokémon Smile, a free new app designed to help kids with brushing their teeth. Available today, the mobile app uses augmented reality (AR) and the front-facing camera to incorporate Pokémon into the teeth-brushing experience. Parents can set the app to send reminder notifications up to three times per day and set a duration for each brushing session. As kids brush, they defeat animated, cavity-causing bacteria and catch more than 100 species of Pokémon. Visit this site for more information about the app.

In the remainder of the Pokémon presentation, The Pokémon Co. President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara provided updates and news for a variety of Pokémon titles.

Pokémon Café Mix is a puzzle-based game in which players run a café for Pokémon. As you progress in the game, you can expand your café and employ Pokémon who can help clear the puzzles. The app will be free on mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch, with optional in-app purchases available. You can preregister for the game starting today!

For long-time Pokémon fans, the most exciting announcement of the day is the return of Pokémon Snap, which was first available on the Nintendo 64 more than 20 years ago. Now, it’s getting a revamp and coming to the Nintendo Switch. In this game, players explore deserts, jungles, and more as they photograph fan-favorite Pokémon and discover never-before-seen Pokémon expressions and behaviors. Check out the official site to learn more about the new version of the game!

There are some updates on Pokémon Go, too, as the app adjusts to let players do more from home. (ICYMI, Pokémon Go Fest will be a virtual event this year.) Also, Mega Evolution is coming to Pokémon Go!

Moving on to Pokémon Sword & Shield, the first expansion pack officially launches today. To celebrate, there will be a special Max Raid battle featuring the mythical Pokémon Zeraora. If one million trainers defeat Zeraora in this battle by June 28, everyone will get a Shiny Zeraora. Look for full details soon on pokemon.com.

Finally, in case all of that wasn’t enough, there will be another Pokémon Presents next week, on June 24.
