Sometimes you have to take the time to stop and smell the roses — or, in this case, the fruits.
VTech’s newest toy designed for toddlers ages 18 months and up is the Smellephant, an adorable elephant who lets kids really get in touch with their senses.
This interactive pachyderm pal will introduce preschoolers to their five senses. It comes with five fruit pieces that kids can place on its trunk to discover colors, numbers, and fruit facts. The elephant will move its trunk and sing catchy songs about the grapes, lemons, strawberries, apples, and oranges.

The Smellephant’s ears also flap forward and cover her eyes, so that kids can play a fun game of peek-a-boo. (Plus, those silly ears don’t stop her sense of smell; even if her eyes are covered, she can still sniff out and identify the fruit.)
This adorable and brightly colored toy is engaging through multiple play modes. Free Play mode is where kids can explore colors, numbers, and the five senses. In Quiz mode, the Smellephant will encourage kids to use their different senses through a game that keeps them having fun and learning. Kids can also bop along to 12 sing-along songs about fruits and elephants in Music mode.
And if all of that wasn’t enough, the Smellephant’s feet also has buttons that kids can press for more songs and animal sound effects.
Aside from all of it’s educational and developmental benefits — which are standard for all VTech toys — this elephant is super cute. Its light blue color, patterned ears, and adorably big eyes make for an engaging toy and an aesthetic addition to any playroom.
At a $30 dollar price point, it’s not hard to sniff out all of the play value packed into this fun friend. If you’re looking for an educational and engaging toy for a little in your life, look no further than VTech’s Smellephant — it’s just common sense!
