Unlike the Lite-Brites of the past, however, this one is mini! It’s a 4-by-4-inch grid, making it perfect for car trips and an easy thing to throw into backpacks on the way to summer camp. It can also connect to other Mini-X Connects, which means kids can either buy multiple to create unique designs, or pair up with pals who also have one.
Each side of the grid is connectable, so the possibilities are endless with what kids and their friends can create. If you’re heading to a family event, this would be a fun gift for all the kids ages 4 and up. With the price point at $9.99, it’s not too expensive of an option depending on how many kids are in your family. It will also keep them out of your hair while you gossip with the grownups, and that’s truly priceless.
As someone who loses everything she ever touches, my only qualm over traveling with the set is the 170 mini-pegs that come with it. If one falls on the floor of the car, it’s probably going to live there forever along with the stale McDonald’s french fry and pocket change. To help keep them more secure, you can place the pegs into a sealable plastic bag, or better yet, place the whole set in a food container to keep it all in one place for easier transport.
The nostalgia with this Lite-Brite set is hard to pass up. Parents could also “forget” to give it to kids altogether and keep it on their desks as a fun thing to fidget with during boring Zoom calls. Whoever it’s for, you’ll need three AAA batteries before Brite-ning up your day.
