As many states continue their social distancing mandates, families can get a box full of educational activities delivered straight to their door without having to leave the house.

Wonder Crate — a role model-themed subscription box for kids — is launching a new Sports Hero crate in June. Founded by educator and mom Corrie Wiedmann, each Wonder Crate includes a book about a specific role model and activities that incorporate the role model’s personality traits, such as resilience or curiosity, and various topics, such as social studies, STEM, art, and more. Using a book with associated activities helps encourage reluctant readers and keeps kids learning even while they are out of school.

The Sports Hero crate will feature activities that promote being “active anywhere,” designed to get kids moving no matter the space they have. Track and field pioneer Jesse Owens will be the first hero featured in this series.

In addition to the new Sports Hero category, Wonder Crates are also available in three other categories: Artists, Activities, and Innovators. There is currently a Summer Camp in a Box crate shipping on June 15 that is full of activities and books that will teach kids to cook with Julia Child, practice magic tricks with Harry Houdini, learn about animation with Walt Disney, grow plants with George Washington Carver, and discover nature with Beatrix Potter.  The crates are suitable for kids ages 7-11 and there are also “Junior” crates designed for kids ages 5-7.

The crates start at $23.95 per month and a sibling add-on is available for $12.95.
