Marvel and Scholastic are giving the people what they want: more superheroes!
A multiyear graphic novel program is in the works, with new stories launching as part of Scholastic’s Graphic Media line for middle-grade readers. Spider-Man will be the first to swing out of the gates with Miles Morales: Shock Waves, written by bestselling author Justin A. Reynolds and illustrated by Eisner Award-nominated artist Pablo Leon.
In Miles Morales: Shock Waves, Miles Morales is a just normal kid who happens to juggle school at Brooklyn Visions Academy while moonlighting as Spider-Man. After a huge earthquake strikes his mother’s birthplace of Puerto Rico, Miles organizes a fundraiser to help. When a new student’s father mysteriously goes missing, Miles begins to make connections between the disappearance and a giant corporation sponsoring the fundraiser. Who is behind the disappearance, and what is Spider-Man going to do about it?
Marvel and Scholastic will also debut new adventures following Kamala Khan, written by Nadia Shammas, and Black Panther’s Shuri, written by Roseanne A. Brown. More details on these new stories will be released later this year.
