Game night is about to get lit.
If you’re looking for the perfect party game to have your family and friends laughing and acting silly, look no further than Streaks from Buffalo Games. This easy-to-learn and fun to play game will have the whole group working together to try to get the longest streak.
Let’s start from the first spark: Streaks comes with a gameboard that features a light-up flame timer and 21 blank spaces for players to place rule cards. The simple gameplay is that players start the timer, then go around the board one by one, counting to 21 in the 45 allotted seconds. Simple right?
Wrong. Players will really start to feel the heat when they begin adding rule cards on each turn. Each of the rule cards features commands that players must do instead of simply counting that number. For example, if No. 7 might get replaced with high-fiving a player, and No. 15’s rule may instruct players to say the word as if they’ve sucked in helium. Once the rule is read, it gets flipped facedown, so as players go through the round, they must remember the rules for each number to make it through all 21 before time runs out.
To add a little more fuel to the fire, the game also features special cards like “Fired Up,” which challenges players to add two more rule cards to the board, or “Odds,” which tasks players to add a rule card and then only count the odd numbers.
The game is designed for 2-4 players ages 17 and up, but the adult-only cards are separated out if you’d like to play with a bit of a younger age group. I’d recommend this game for the teen and older set — and if adults are a little worried, sort through the cards quickly ahead of time to pull out any that aren’t a fit for your family.
Streaks melds together fast-paced, high-pressure gameplay with silly moves and actions that will have the whole gang laughing the whole time. It’s great that this game is cooperative, but you can definitely adjust the rules a little bit if you’re looking to light up some competition on game night.
SInce the game comes with 130 rule cards, you’re never playing the same game twice, which makes it a go-to pick from the closet for group gatherings. Adding Streaks to your board game rotation is sure to set your game night ablaze with fun!
