Looking for some kid-friendly entertainment that doesn’t involve kids being glued to a TV or tablet screen? Podcasts are a screen-free way to keep kids engaged through storytelling. Wondery Kids is launching a new BIPOC podcast, called Adventures of Cairo.
Developed in partnership with ABF Creative, the 12-episode series tells the story of Cairo Carter, a curious 7-year-old boy living in a big city with his family. Listeners will meet Cairo’s mom, who has a very busy job, but always has time to spend with him; Cairo’s dad, who works at the airport and loves talking about planes; and Cairo’s older brother Omari, who wants to make video games one day. The podcast also features Cairo’s friends, Enrique, Theo, and Mandy, who help him learn important, relatable life lessons. When he loses his way, he can always depend on those around him.
The series centers around themes of emotional intelligence, financial literacy, and safety, with stories that will teach kids lessons about bullying, tolerance, how to deal with grief, the value of a dollar, and more.
The podcast will launch with the first two episodes on Feb. 1, followed by a new episode released weekly on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, the Wondery App, or wherever you listen to podcasts. Families can also listen to Adventures of Cairo episodes one week early by subscribing to Wondery+ in the Wondery App. Click here for a preview!
