Sesame Workshop has a whole pile of new resources to help kids with their emotional well-being, just in time for Mental Health Awareness Month.

The nonprofit organization behind the ever-popular Sesame Street is once again tackling children’s mental health with a significant expansion of its emotional well-being resources. The new resources are designed to offer children and families the tools they need to navigate big emotions and difficult situations.

The new bilingual resources include six videos as well as a digital storybook featuring favorite Sesame Street characters such as Elmo, The Count, and Abby Cadabby.

Three new Count on This! videos feature The Count center stage as he demonstrates techniques for self-soothing with help from The Countess and Elmo. “Six-Second Hug,” “10-Second Hum,” and “3 Things” take advantage of the calming effects of stopping and counting.

In “The Ocean Bottle,” Abby Cadabby introduces Telly to a new method of relaxation. An Ocean Bottle is made with everyday household objects and provides time for the body and mind to reset.

“Sofia the Feelings Helper” features Sofia, Sesame Street’s social worker, as she sheds light on the role of feelings helpers (like herself) in kids’ lives. The concept of feelings helpers continues in the “Shout-Out to the Feelings Helpers!” video. Feelings helpers, including therapists, counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and others are also explored in the interactive “Thanks, Feelings Helpers” storybook.

Sesame Workshop also has three new animated videos talking about the connection between mental health and physical health. “Brain Food,” “Bedtime Meltdown,” and “Twiddlebugs Get Moving” highlight nutrition, sleep, and movement.

Other new resources from Sesame Workshop include four printables, a reference guide for guardians developed by the American Psychological Association, and articles designed to help guardians support the emotional well-being of their kids.

Mental Health Awareness Month isn’t done with just these resources. Sesame Workshop is also planning for a new PSA, activities to support mental health with Beaches Resorts, and more. The organization is also making sure not just May is full of mental health support. Beyond the already launched resources, the organization has plans for five animated videos to launch on June 17.
