This year marks the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote in the U.S., and what better way to celebrate female empowerment than with a new kids’ album?
Joanie Leeds’ All the Ladies album focuses on gender equality, female empowerment, and breaking glass ceilings. Out on April 3, the songs were inspired by Leed’s daughter and the experience of raising her as a single mom. She takes difficult subjects, such as systematic sexism, and creates kid-friendly lessons.
Leeds certifies that the album was created by 99% women, including Grammy-winning singer Lisa Loeb and Grammy-nominated musician Sonia De Los Santos.
The first single from the album — available now — is a biographic anthem about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, titled “RBG.” Through the folky anthem, Leeds reminds kids that they can be anything to which they aspire. Listen to it below.
Parents can start important conversations and sing along with their kids this April. All the Ladies will be available on Spotify, iTunes, and Amazon Music.
