Expert Review: Dynacraft XL Wagon Beach Bundle

The Dynacraft XL Wagon – Beach Bundle is a folding utility wagon built to haul the mountain of stuff that follows families outdoors.

Its beach wheels are designed for sand, but also handle grass, gravel, pavement, and more. This wagon holds up to 200 pounds of toys and gear, and it’s loaded with features that make heavy-duty family adventures easier and more organized.

This falls into the category of things I wish I’d had when our daughters were little. Taking kids and all the things that go with them on any adventure is a logistical challenge, and this solves a bunch of them, starting with one area that most wagons fail: Traveling across soft sand.

The oversized, inflatable tires are designed to evenly distribute weight and reduce drag so you’re not fighting to haul your load across the miniature dunes of a sandy shoreline.

On that note, “beach” is right there in the name, but don’t put this wagon away with the swimsuits.

Fall is coming, and that means pumpkin patches, apple orchards, school events, outdoor festivals, and the annual realization that four pumpkins weigh a bit more on the walk back to the car.

That’s where this XL wagon really earns its keep as a multi-season fixture in the family fun arsenal. 

From a more technical standpoint, it has a rust-resistant aluminum frame and an extra-deep cargo bed with a removable liner. The fabric is water-, UV, and mildew-resistant, while the no-pinch X-frame makes folding it down much less of a hassle. There’s also an adjustable handle, a working tailgate, and storage pockets for smaller stuff that can get lost. I particularly love that the wheels pop off with the push of a button. If you’ve ever tried getting a wagon to fit nicely in the trunk, the wheels can be an obstacle.

Beyond its core use, this is great for moving heavy items around the yard (I used ours to move some bags of mulch from the car to the backyard), and a photojournalist mentioned to me that this is a lot more suitable for gear-hauling than the lesser collapsible wagons on the market.

At $399.99, this is a substantial purchase. It’s an investment, but it’s built with materials and features that should keep it in the family rotation for years. As the old saying goes, sometimes “you get what you pay for.”
