Happy Birthday, Molly McIntire!

To celebrate the historical character’s birthday, the fan-favorite doll is returning to the American Girl lineup. Molly McIntire was initially released in 1986 as one of the first Historical Characters, representing the late World War II Era.

Molly is returning to the lineup as an 18-inch doll with her classic braids and bangs, and her signature round, metal-frame glasses. She is dressed in an authentic navy-blue-and-red argyle knit sweater and a matching wool skirt. Molly comes with various accessories including a red purse, a navy wool beret, a locket necklace, a letter she wrote to her father at Christmastime, and a reproduction 1943 steel-cut penny. She is also accompanied by her beloved Jack Russel Terrier, Bennett, as a plush toy.

Kids can learn more about Molly in the included paperback book, Molly: A Winning Spirit. In this 136-page book, Molly desperately misses her dad during the war. Even though toys, treats, and surprises are scarce, Molly does not allow her imagination to be rationed. She and her friends come together for the school’s Lend-a-Hand contest and Molly works to make Christmas a memorable holiday for her family. The book is illustrated in full color and features a peek into Molly’s 1940s world.
