Remember the days of picking out a new outfit for back-to-school season? Virtual pets deserve new outfits, too, and Bandai Namco Toys & Collectibles America is giving the Original Tamagotchi three new designs for fall.
The new shells include a chocolate-themed look with heart-shaped sprinkles, a colorful “Mametchi Comic Book” design, and a dreamy pastel style with shooting stars and clouds on a pink backdrop. The Mametchi Comic Book shell is Generation 1, while the Chocolate and Dreamy shells are Generation 2 Tamagotchis. The three new styles join a family of more than 40 other Tamagotchi shells: There truly is a Tamagotchi for everyone.
Designed for kids ages 8 and up, the Original Tamagotchi is a digital pet that lives inside an egg-like device meant to take on the go. Kids can feed, nurture, discipline, and play games with their virtual pet to help it grow from a baby to an adult. How players raise their Tamagotchi character will determine which of the seven adults it will grow into.
The three new styles are available to preorder on Amazon now for $19.99 each. The official launch date is Oct. 19.
