Who’s ready for a book party??
Your young readers may be stuck at home during these unexpected and prolonged school closures, plowing through their own to-be-read lists daily. But reading alone can be isolating sometimes, so Scholastic is gearing up to host a massive celebration online to celebrate books and reading.
Scholastic’s Home Base Virtual Book Fest will bring together a slew of authors to chat with kids and host costume contests, online Q&As, and trivia events.
Author R.L. Stine (Goosebumps) will host a live question-and-answer session, Ghost Squad writer Claribel Ortega will run some interactive games, and Whatever Author writer Sarah Mlynowski will emcee a costume contest. Then, kids can stick around for more activities and a dance party to close out the festivities.
The two-hour party will kick off tomorrow at 3 p.m. EST on the online, multiplayer Home Base game. Sounds fun; want to join? All kids will need to participate is a registered Scholastic Kids account. (Parents can set up new accounts here.) Once registration is complete, kids can log into the website or the accompanying app to join the party.
