Slumberkins is bringing cozy comfort to families in need.
Slumberkins is an emotional learning brand aiming to help promote healthy development in children. The brand is known for its characters and stories, featured in its more than 50 books in print. Now, it’s bringing those books and cuddly creature characters to the Portland East Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities provide a space for families dealing with ill children to stay nearby. The Portland East Ronald McDonald House served more than 800 families last year, with those visiting receiving a place to stay, home-cooked meals, and stocked pantries. The new Slumberkins Comfort Corner has been refurbished and features Slumberkins plush, books, and affirmations, all designed to provide a cozy sanctuary to families staying.
The overall Portland East location can house 25 families and is located on the campus of Legacy Emanuel near Randall Children’s Hospital, serving families of children being treated there and other nearby clinics.
The Standard Insurance Co. of Portland, Oregon, is sponsoring the new Comfort Corner and has expressed interest in seeing the program expand to other Ronald McDonald houses across the country. For now, families in Portland can experience a cozy space to decompress thanks to the new Slumberkins Comfort Corner.
