VTech’s latest interactive innovation, Storytime with Sunny, is an engaging, entertaining toy that will not only keep kids busy, but will also help develop their social-emotional skills.
Sunny features dozens of animated expressions and movements. While this toy may not count as “screen-free,” it does fall under the healthy screen time category. It’s a simple, fairly low-tech option that promotes healthy habits, active play, and guided activities.
Storytime with Sunny includes four activity disks that each feature stories, songs, and games for kids to enjoy. Sunny will challenge kids to engage in physical challenges, tell jokes, try tongue twisters, and enjoy pretend play.
Sunny also teaches kids about key healthy habits, like good manners, bedtime and morning routines, and even cleaning up. That’s right: This toy actually asks your kids to clean up so you don’t have to!
This subtle, tech-infused toy also features a nightlight, so kids can keep it by their bedside. It has a built-in clock and can also work as an alarm in the morning (saving you from yet another potentially unpleasant parenting task!).
But what I love most about Sunny is how much she helps kids identify emotions through her many facial expressions. She also helps kids learn how to navigate conversations by engaging with them directly, and she reads stories and sings songs, which is perfect for kids who are not yet reading on their own.
