A few weeks ago, I visited a group of friends with the game Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza slipped into my back pocket.

While I was met with some hesitations at the silly name, they ended up asking me if they could keep the game about 5 minutes into the first round. With my $9.99 deck of tacos and goats galore, I had achieved the seemingly impossible achievement of being a game night hero — a title some can only dream of.

If you want that same feeling of success when impressing even the toughest of groups, you may be wondering how a game with a name like “Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza” even works.

Well, it’s exactly how it sounds, and it’s refreshingly easy to get the hang of. That is coming from someone who frequently nods along while card game instructions go in one ear and out the other. Players get dispersed an even amount of cards and take turns slapping them down, hoping to match the cards to the order of the spoken words: “Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza.” If the word does match the card, the players slap the pile, and whoever is last receives the cards. The winner is determined by who runs out of cards first.

It sounds easy, but your mind will play tricks on you — and so will the game.

There are a few other characters thrown in there, such as the Narwhal, the Groundhog, and the Gorilla that players will need to race to do the silly action that matches the animal and slap the deck. It’s absolute chaos that will make the whole table roar. This makes for not only a fun time guaranteed for laughs, but also a sneaky experience for kids ages 8 and up to exercise their memory and reflexes.

What makes this game really stand out is the fact that it’s the classic size of a standard deck of cards. Kids and adults can take it anywhere: get togethers, a restaurant, the side of the road when you have a flat tire, the local dive bar, a school lunchroom — the possibilities are endless. It’s extremely fast-paced and the game itself only lasts about 10-15 minutes. However, take that with a grain of salt, as the rounds and time will slip away from you.

At an affordable price and available at major retailers, this game will make for priceless memories, and a perfect gift that keeps on giving for any birthday or holiday

Throw in a grandparent, a moody teen, a second grader, or an uncle overstaying his welcome at the function and this Dolphin Hat Games experience will remind you what family time is all about.
