It’s been 14 years since we last heard from Barney. Our favorite purple dinosaur hasn’t been on screens since 2010, when the last episode of Barney and Friends hit screens. A lot has changed since then, but Barney is still as lovable as ever!
As a special Love Day present from Mattel, Barney made a video telling the world how much he loves us.
“I haven’t seen some of you in a long time, but I always make sure to check in on my friends,” Barney says. “And it seems like, maybe, we could all use a little reminder right now. A reminder of the super-dee-duper ability we all have to love one another. And how important it is to show love towards yourself too. After a long day on the playground of life I want you to know, you are seen, you are special, you are loved.”
In the video, Barney also says that he has a feeling he’ll be seeing us again soon. Barney is coming back to screens later this year with Barney’s World, an animated kids series that is headed to Max later this year. A live-action Barney movie with Daniel Kaluuya is also in development alongside Barney toys, books, and clothing.
This is just the start of a big year for Barney. Even if the kids in your life have never been introduced to the lovable purple dinosaur, there’s no time like the present to introduce them!
