Penguin Workshop has a new book that stars a book itself! From author, illustrator, and animator Joren Cull, I Am Book follows protagonist Book as it tries to impress kids at its new library. Soon Book will learn that it might just be better to embrace who you are instead of trying to change for others.
Book was always popular at its home in Rufus Elementary. But when the library closes, Book will need to find its footing at a new school. The children’s book follows our protagonist as it deals with kids who aren’t interested in its torn pages and dusty jacket. Book tries everything it can to change, from changing its pages to trying a new jacket, before it learns to accept itself just the way it is.
Cull is known for their work in The New York Times, National Geographic, Bloomberg Businessweek, The Guardian, Reader’s Digest, and The Globe. They boast awards from American Illustration, Applied Arts, and The National Magazine Awards, as well as a Webby Award for best animation.
I Am Book is available for preorder now, and will be released on March 5. Young readers will learn to love Book (and maybe learn a thing or two about loving themselves as well!).
