After years of hearing the same holiday hits over and over again, kids can’t jam out to them like they used to. Lisa’s Hip Hop Homeys is setting out to change the holiday music scene this year. The band just dropped a set of four songs in its EP, Rappin Up Christmas, that combine hip hop with the holidays.
Each song puts a spin on a classic Christmas song. “The Night Rapper” turns “Silent Night” into a rap that tells the story of Jesus’s birth. “Jingle Bell Rap” adds some rhythm to a favorite caroling song, featuring verses like, “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way / The squad is gettin’ litty / Hip hop’s hear to stay (hey).”
“Deck the Halls (Pump Up the Holly)” hypes up Santa Claus saying “His fit is always fire, with a belly like a panda” and “His name is Saint Nick and his squad is always lit, hear the bass bump every time the sleigh makes trips, you hear the kicks?” Finally, Lisa’s Hip Hop Homeys wishes kids a merry Christmas in “We Wish You a Rappin Christmas”
Kids can jam out to Rappin Up Christmas on Spotify, Apple Music, and other music streaming platforms. This set of songs is unlike any Christmas songs kids have heard before!
