Celebrate all things Lucky Charms just in time for Lucky’s favorite holiday and birthday, St. Patrick’s Day! Lucky Charms are magically delicious, and now they’re magically heading to the bookshelf with a new book about how Lucky discovered his magic.
The Magic Inside is a coming-of-age story that will introduce readers to Lucky’s home on the border of Fairyland and Humanland, and to his friends and his family, including his human mom, his brother, and his sister. The book features 10 chapters suitable for third-grade/intermediate readers.
The book will be available for free digitally at luckycharmskids.com. The first 10,000 new readers that sign up for the Magic Makers Club can receive a free print version of the book by visiting luckycharms.com/magic-makers-club. The print version of the book is also available to purchase for $4.99 at luckycharms.com/shop, and 3,000 copies will be donated to Little Free Libraries book-sharing boxes around the country. Lucky Charms is also building 20 new Little Free Libraries around the country by the end of the year, with traces of Lucky in rainbows and four-leaf clovers stamped around the libraries.
Singer, actor, and children’s book author Taye Diggs will read the first chapter live and host a Q&A on the @LuckyCharms Instagram for Read Across America Day on March 2 at 8 p.m. EST. “Reading is something I’ve always been truly passionate about,” Diggs said in a statement. “Like Lucky in The Magic Inside, we’ve all felt pulled in different directions or like we didn’t fit in at some point, and to see that struggle reflected in a favorite and magical character is so important for our kids to help them not feel alone as they learn to celebrate what makes them them.” Fans can submit questions in advance to @LuckyCharms on Instagram.
Families can also join Diggs in a virtual read-along produced by BuzzFeed here. The BuzzFeed microsite also features Lucky-inspired games, Tasty recipe videos, and Nifty craft videos.
