Everyone’s favorite family entertainment spot just got better (and more inclusive)! Chuck E. Cheese is teaming up with the American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) to make its locations even better for kids who are deaf or hard of hearing. The new program is just in time to celebrate National ASL Day today.
Chuck E. Cheese will have a number of initiatives active throughout the year thanks to the new partnership. The company will organize both national and local fundraising events with 20% of proceeds going to ASDC’s mission of empowering deaf and hard-of-hearing children. The partnership’s efforts don’t stop at fundraising.
All Chuck E. Cheese locations will introduce training programs designed to educate employees. The programs will include foundational information such as basic greetings in ASL. Chuck E. Cheese’s Accessibility Subcommittee plans to focus on hard-of-hearing inclusivity with cast members, developing training materials as well as educational content.
A new series of ASL sing-along videos will also be produced and released on the company’s in-store media platforms and YouTube channels.
The ASDC is a nonprofit organization offering support and information to families raising deaf or hard-of-hearing children. It was founded in 1967 and is the oldest national organization headed by parents of deaf children.
