TV programming is adapting to the new normal of social distancing as we all try to safe safe and responsible during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards will be the first award show to take place remotely, with Victorious actress Victoria Justice leading the charge as this year’s host.
The show’s theme is “celebrate together,” featuring celebrities accepting the orange blimp awards from their homes based on millions of votes from kids around the country. Stars scheduled to appear include Dwayne Johnson, Ariana Grande, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, BTS, Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X, Dove Cameron, Tom Holland, Tom Kenny, cast members of Avengers: Endgame (Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner), and more.
Kids can catch some extra-creative segments, such as JoJo Siwa discovering slime secretly placed in every area of her home, a performance by Asher Angel, and an exclusive look at Nick’s Slime in Space voyage. The 2020 Generation Change Award will go to the late LeBron James. Nickelodeon will also air a sneak peek at its new live-action series The Astronauts.
The show will support the mission of No Kid Hungry — a national campaign to end childhood hunger in the U.S. — with a $1 million donation in support of those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards 2020: Celebrate Together will air on Saturday, May 2, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT).
