When it comes to screen-free audio players, the category has one very clear winner: Tonies.

For more than two years, Tonies have been a staple in our home. While the name might be a tad confusing since Tonies are audio-enhanced character figures made by Tonies to be played using a Toniebox, the platform couldn’t be more straightforward.

The Toniebox is a soft, huggable little cube that provides access to thousands of stories, songs, and other educational content. It’s rechargeable, so it’s portable for on-the-go adventures. It has a built-in speaker with great sound, but it also has a headphone jack so that kids ages 3 and up can listen on their own. The stories are accessed by placing a collectible Tonie figure on the top of the Toniebox, and kids can bump or tap the side to advance through each playlist. Rather than just reading about it, check out the video below to see how the Toniebox works.

Now, Peppa Pig is getting in on the action with a Toniebox Starter Set that is available exclusively at Target this holiday season. The vibrant, pink Toniebox comes with a Peppa Pig Tonie figure that kids can use to access an hour’s worth of storytelling fun that includes authentic dialogue, sounds, and music from the Peppa Pig TV series.

Kids simply place Peppa Pig on their Toniebox to listen to stories, including Peppa Goes Around the World, George’s Balloon, Peppa Goes on Holiday, Peppa Goes Skiing, Peppa Goes Boating, Miss Rabbit’s Day Off, Peppa’s New Neighbours, Peppa’s Fishy Friends, and Peppa and the Noisy Baby.

What’s truly wonderful about the Tonies system is that it’s an interactive platform that fosters imaginative play while being screen-free and disconnected, which means that kids won’t have access to unsavory content.

Dozens of Tonies character figures are available with preloaded audio, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Using a Creative Tonie and the companion app, a parent or other adult can record custom audio, including short messages, greetings, or full stories that kids can play back at any time.

Now, you probably won’t want to let the little ones jump in muddy puddles with their Peppa Pig Toniebox, but it will provide endless hours of adventure for rainy days or any day.

It’s just that good.
