Wish you could play two games at once? Now you can!

Designed for kids ages 7 and up, UNO Quatro from Mattel lets you experience the fun of UNO with a twist inspired by Connect Four. Players choose their hand from a bag of small tiles that look very similar to traditional UNO cards. Some of the tiles are “action tiles,” that let you swap trays, push out pieces, and steal tiles from another player.

Each player takes a turn sliding one of their tiles into a tray. The goal is to get four tiles of the same color or number in a row vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. The first player to do it wins the game!

Designed for a group of 2-4 players, UNO Quatro is perfect for older kids, tweens, and adults. For those who are already familiar with the rules of either UNO or Connect 4, this crossover game provides an opportunity to try something new in a social setting.

At first, it might seem like a lot to keep track of, but playing with a group of people helps to boost brain power. The challenge is to think about two different game styles at once, but it asks players to keep focus and build critical problem-solving skills.

We played a few games where there were quick wins out of pure luck, lasting only a few minutes. Other games went on for about 10 minutes when we focused on defensive strategy.

The trays are durable, and easier to slide in and out than one might initially expect. The game itself comes with a black drawstring bag to store the tiles in, making cleanup easy and the game transportable.

My favorite part of UNO Quatro is the inclusivity. Colorblind players are not left out from the game: The tiles are marked with little shape symbols that indicate their corresponding colors.

UNO Quatro has true potential to be your family game night’s newest addition.

UNO QUATRO

This game combines the challenge of matching colors or numbers with getting four in a row. Players take turns sliding their tiles into one of seven trays, while action tiles increase the challenge.
