The fall months tend to mean apples and pumpkins. I particularly adore the colors of the falling leaves, such as red, orange, brown, and green, and our family enjoys adding festive fall decorations around the house. These toilet paper pumpkin decorations do the trick. Plus, the craft is easy to make and fun for everyone.
I know what you’re thinking: A toilet paper pumpkin? I’m all about adding special touches, keeping on budget, and finding ways for the kids to help decorate for the holidays. What I love about these pumpkins is the fact that you can use items that you already have around the house or yard.
Supplies
- Roll of toilet paper
- Cloth napkins, or fabric
- A cinnamon stick (or a short stick from the backyard)
- 6 inches of ribbon
Instructions
Step 1: Unroll some of the toilet paper, and then reroll it to give your pumpkin a little more fluff.
Step 2: Place the napkin or fabric open on the table, and put the toilet paper roll in the center.
Step 3: Lift a corner of the fabric and begin to add it to the center of the toilet paper roll. As you add the fabric, you’ll want to make a pleat to give your pumpkin a neat appearance.
Step 4: After your fabric is tucked in, it’s time to make the stem. You can use a stick a from the backyard or, if you want your toilet paper pumpkin to be scented, try a cinnamon stick!
Step 5: Wrap some ribbon around the stick, and place it in the center of the pumpkin.
What I love about these pumpkins is how quick and easy they are to make. We made this one as a family in less than five minutes. The kids were excited to make more and place them all over the house. When the holiday season is done, we’ll unfold the pumpkin and use the toilet paper for its original purpose again.
