In the world of video games it really is nice to see when brands create products that require play but use characters and games from the virtual world. K’NEX is one of my favorite building brands. I love them because they are in the Philly area of course, American-made, and, most of all, because they require my almost six-year-old to really think AND play!
It’s kind of funny how I got introduced to K’NEX in my house. A few years ago, my parents came to stay with us from Illinois over the holidays. My dad, bless his heart, loves to buy my kids things that are WAY out of their age range. So this particular Christmas, he brought my then 3-year-old a K’NEX roller coaster set. (With like 4,000 pieces but I digress, ha.) On Christmas Eve, my mom and I put together the entire roller coaster so that Santa could play with it when he brought the toys and also my son would wake up and see the awesome. Long (LONG) story short. I put it together with my mom and he just loved it—and I loved that time I got to hang with my own mom putting it together.
Fast forward and now my own son is ripe for the making with K’NEX. He’s a mega fan of the ever so disgusting game called Plants vs. Zombies, a mobile game where you try to save your lawn from the attacking Zombie apocalypse with the help of fighting plants. Combine that with K’NEX and the kid is over the moon. He’s a bit fan of the building sets, allowing him to reconstruct scenes from the game he loves so much. I also love their little mystery packs. Sadly, I am so excited to see what is in them and open them before he does! (Ha!)
Check out all the awesome made-in-the-U.S. goodness from K’NEX today.
